WONDER NO MORE, EXPERIENCE IT YOURSELF

National Film Development Corporation Malaysia (FINAS) is Malaysia’s leading film agency and authority entrusted with the responsibility of developing the film industry. Established in 1981, it is a statutory agency under the Ministry of Communication and Multimedia. FINAS is responsible to promote, preserve and facilitate the development of the film industry in Malaysia. FINAS is the first point of contact that provides information, advice, support services and incentives for creative content production in Malaysia. FINAS is also the agency that facilitates all foreign film production work in Malaysia.

Since the establishment of FILMKITA in 2013, the organization had numerous counts of educational trips to FINAS headquarters based in Hulu Kelang, Ampang. Recently, 20 young filmmakers with the best video submissions, were given a chance to visit the headquarters on the 22nd of November 2014. The primary goal of having this trip was to provide valuable insight to the young and hungry start up filmmakers as well as giving them early exposure into how the professional industry operates. A trip to FINAS is organised once in three months; only those talented and outstanding were able to gage valuable experience that other aspiring film makers out there can only dream off. Throughout the years to come, FILMKITA aspires to maintain this partnership with FINAS and keep on discovering fresh, raw talents who will contribute to the local film scene.

Since our establishment,  FILMKITA has been organising a series of workshops such as Writing From Scratch, Adobe Premier Pro For Beginners and Understanding Online Film Marketing for those who are interested. Priority was given to those who submit their videos to us as this workshop aimed to educate and most importantly sharpen the existing skills of these rising stars to become major industry players in the future. Recently, a five-day Intensive Film Making Workshop took place from 3 to 7 November 2014. A number of 30 participants attended the workshop.
